It's "lives" and sharing something wonderful doesn't automatically obligate them to share something painful.
In fact, it doesn't obligate them to share anything after. They don't owe anyone anything.
At the same time, there's no harm in people asking... and they shouldn't be offended by it. By sharing all this time, people have a right to ask. But that doesn't mean that they have to get a response.
