    Interesting article about Playstation 2

    http://www.cnn.com/2002/TECH/ptech/0...eut/index.html

I guess they are gonna make it be able to record TV shows or live broadcasts, and store on hard drives, or burn on cd.. and also tons of other shit.

"Sony has been trying to transform PlayStation 2, which has sold 40 million units globally, into a home entertainment hub allowing users to shop online and store music or movies.

The new product enabling TV programmes to be stored on a hard disk could give Sony an edge over its rival Microsoft Corp., which is also eyeing the home entertainment business as an untapped source of revenue.

Fukunaga said Sony Computer Entertainment may offer tuner kits that would contain hardware to receive broadcasting signals, hard disks and software to run recording devices.

Sony may also roll out a new PlayStation 2 that has a built-in tuner and other necessary functions.

The upgrade will likely be first introduced in Japan"

Looks like Sony's got alot planned for the PS2.. lets hope it doesn't all flop like that stupid Dreamcast system.

Every piece of add-on hardware for console systems has flopped.

Everything from the old Colecovision ADAM, to the Sega disasters like 32X, Sega CD, to that add on drive they released for the N64 over in Japan.

Microsoft was smart enough to include a harddrive in their system so they might be able to add some more functionality to it without scaring away consumers.

Not totally true. I bought the add on for my Magnavox Oddysey that enabled it to play sounds right from the console. Worked great. Drove me crazy with "Killer Bees" I loved Pick Axe Pete though.

XBOX? No thank you. PS2 is much better. The games are more fun, IMO.

Xbox has decent graphics but the games are not fun. Xbox has nothing (except Halo) that is fun to play.
Where are the great xbox games?
