That time of year again with Valentines Day around the corner I am hearing loads of women bitching about their partners lack of romance. So, tell us what the most romantic thing you have ever done for a partner has been?
Guys - what is your idea of romance?

My girl will come to my house for the weekend on friday the 11th. I will pick her up at the trainstation. We wont go to my house though but on the same trainstation we will jump on the Thalys and go to Paris. She does not know anything about it. I arranged everything and even talked to her boss to give her some days off. We will leave Paris on the 15th....Comment

assuming that she's working that day she would have a hot bubble bath ready for her.. scented candlles lighting up the room and filling the air with her favorite smell(s). While she's relaxing in the tub I'd be finishing cooking supper.. Again, setting up the eating area with candles and all of that.. After supper I would give her a full body massage using her favorite scented massage oil(s) and just let her relax and enjoy every second of it.. after that we would watch a movie of her choice with the lights dimmed.. Cuddled together, very relaxed and happy.
you said things taht we have done but this is not something that I did. It's somethi0ng that I want to do.. No girl I've been with has deserved that so I never did it.Last edited by Yngwie; 01-24-2005, 06:13 AM.ICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

a big pile of drugs, sitting around the house all day, doing absolutely nothing all day but the big pile of drugs and fucking.
Often times I wonder why
There's love and hate, theres live or die.
When sickness comes I must decide:
When feelings go, theres suicide.

there's romance, and then there's true romance, real romance.
i guess you could say this is what seperates me from a lot of people here, who have relationships based on either money, sex, appearence, or power. too many people base their relationships on one of those four things, and any amount of romance experienced is nothing strong enough to breach the heart in any significant amount.
true romance can be present only if the two are together for one thing, and one thing only, each other. a bond so strong that the idea of having sex with another person seems like a knife through the heart, so strong that they could live like royalty in a dumpster.
true romance is not about the minor details of roses, dinners, bubblebaths, and what have you... but about the reflection of what you are, and why you are.
if you want your girl to have a really romantic night, try not to focus on those material things. focus on creating an environment condusive towards a unified reflection of who you are.
Thanks,
Dr. PhilComment

I enjoy dinner and a movie on Valentine's Day. It's not romantic for me to get flowers or chocolates on Valentine's Day. It's all the little things leading up to Valentine's day.
It's romantic for me to come home to a husband washing dishes, cooking dinner, or playing with the kids. It makes me happy when he leaves me a little note on the fogged up mirror in the bathroom that says simply, "I love you." It's romantic when I come back from dropping the kids off at the grandparent's house to find him in bed waiting on me.
It's not about Valentine's day itself, for me. It's about every day prior to Valentine's Day that makes it fun to just spend time together.

that's true but focusing all your attention on making HER feel relaxed, loved, happy all at the same time (like my idea of something romantic that I typed) has nothing to do with material things. True romance is not about the things that you mentioned but if it's something that you actually enjoy doing and know that she enjoys doing it too or having it done to her then both will be in a very happy enviroment. The whole idea of romance is to make the one you're with feel like she is all that matters, loves, respected etc.. Of course, if all a guy does is go out and buy all these expensive material things and tries to pass them off as "romantic" that to me is like treating her like a hooker. You're trying to buy her with all that shit.Originally posted by galleryseekthere's romance, and then there's true romance, real romance.

bubble bath in candle light: allows her to relax and think about how happy she is and how much you must love her for doing this. This will put her in a great mood.
there are many things that can be done but don't do it just because you think she may like it.. Do something that you enjoy and something that you know she enjoys. This way you will be doing it from the heart with love which is the way it should be. Then again, why is it people need a special day to treat their bf/gf like this? We shouldn'tneed a special day made just for that.. We should be treating our gf's this way as much as possible and not just because it's valentines day. If you truly love the one you're with then why wait all year to be romantic/loving/caring/sweet/compassionate etc..
Treat her with love all year longICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

also, too many guys do "romantic" things not because taht's the way they are but they think that they will get something in return. If you do it but expect something in return you will be dissapointed.. Do it because you mean it..ICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

Same as every night of the week. Spending time together, talking, laughing and widing up on the couch snuggling under the blankets.
Nothing beats being together just enjoying each others company.Comment

I met my better half when we were 18 and worked at the mall. I was in a cd store and she was at a Dairy Queen across the courtyard. I couldn't be with her last year. Unfortunately, she has lived in New York for a few years now and I still live in our home town of Chicago. To me, it is amazing how close we've stayed considering the physical distance and some tragedies we've endured. So for the last Valentine's, I sent her a gift box with a cd I made of her favorite songs and a gift certificate for Dairy Queen. Then I gave her two big, fluffy sweatshirts with one saying "I (heart) New York" and the other reading "Sweet Home Chicago". In the note, I told her that from where we started to where we are to where ever we go next, it all meant that much more to me because she was there too. When we had the chance to be together again, I made dinner for her and took her out for a treat a Dairy Queen. The whole thing cost me next to nothing, but she said it was the nicest present she's ever received. So I guess that's romatic.
But the year before that, I just got her a big heart shaped cookie that said "Eat Me". Then we boned.

Don't wait until Valentine's Day, make every day a special one. How? Just a small , simple surprise.
Waking up early in the morning to put a rose on her pillow and bringing in a hot cup of coffee just the way she likes it (when she thought you never noticed).
When she smiles and asks "why this surprise?", tell her "every day I wake up next to you reminds me how lucky I am and this is just a small way to say 'thank you'."
Call her at work one day and when she asks why, tell her you miss her and wanted to hear her voice.
After a long week surprise her Friday by having your bags packed (don't even try to pack hers, just leave hers on the bed!) ... tell her you are taking her away for the weekend to [insert your favourite getaway here]
If possible, pick her up from work one day (even better if she usually commutes!) and take her out for a drink in a romantic spot.
Buy her 2 tickets to the cheesy romantic movie she keeps talking about but knows you don't want to see.
And always, every day, treat her like a lady. Be respectful, supportive and make her feel like she is a princess. Listen. Understand. And make sure you add a little spice to your sex life to make sure she knows you totally desire her.
I can say (and do) these things because the lady I love makes it easy.Comment
