I think (but dont know) that when you see female police dealing with females it's usually a curteousy, not a requirement. The less they feel the subject would be embarassed or traumatized, the less likely they'd be to arrange for a female officer.
Just a guess.
Anyway that sucks to be the focus of attention like that. Hopefully it'll all work out ok and maybe you should invest in a bar that YOU own, because now the bar owner is gun shy you say.
