I would guess that 25% to 50% of GFY users already use both ICQ & Skype with more adult industry members adding Skype every week.

Personally I like the free long distance voice feature on Skype but the majority of my industry contacts are currently on ICQ.

In terms of IM communication both ICQ and Skype equally serve the same function

Been in the biz since 1998, I used ICQ for about 15 mins before I uninstalled it and never looked back.
The 2 biggest misconceptions in adult, that you HAVE to use ICQ and you must attend webmaster shows. Somehow I still managed to prosper, communicate and network with others in the biz without doing either.

I fucking LOVE icq. I don't see it going anwyhere just yet. It's still the main way internet porn industry people comunicate. I am always amused when people put down boards, ICQ or webmaster conventions. I have gotten so much business from those three venues that I hear "cha ching" when I hear icq's "uh oh" sound.

I remember when ICQ was the #1 business IM client. It just never moved forward when all other clients did.

I think most people used it to start because it was the only IM client that recorded history.

I haven't been able to get that stupid sound to turn off. My office is in the next room over from my bedroom and the fucking thing has woken me up at 5am before with russian bots adding me.

recently I've downloaded and setup the last version of ICQ and it was "WTF?????". The piece of software is sucking monkey balls, no wonder why people hate it.
I'm using qip for icq protocol, and I'm quite happy with it, still prefer icq over skype.

I changed my sound scheme. No more uh oh's. Now I get a bored sounding sheep.

I have both Skype and ICQ and I have noticed more people adding me to Skype however, I think ICQ will be a necessary evil for a long time to come still.

I have both Skype and Icq as well. Hone turned me onto Skype, like it a lot

Still need icq though, have an old version of it 2003b, dont have too many issues with it. Dont want to install the new versions, too many horror stories

I'm not a big fan of MSN, maybe it was because for awhile you couldn't send offline msgs. But these days I prefer Skype. ICQ is fine, but I'd love if more people moved over to Skype.

Why not just use both. I don't understand the need to only use one IM program. With the exception of skype you can roll all of your messengers into one with a programs like trillian and pidgin.
