Lots of people use churches as social clubs to find mates. I don't know of many churches that don't have 'singles groups'. They are every bit the meat market that bars are, the main difference being that they don't serve alcohol. If you are looking for a husband or wife, a church would be the place to look. If you're looking for a one night stand, hit the bars.
The only churches that really preach the gospel anymore are the small ones, the ones that aren't trying to raise funds so the pastor can become a star on TV or so they can build multi-million dollar catherdals.
