I read the article, but I may have missed it. You find the golden tokens which you trade in for the precious stones right? This must be so that he can keep track of what puzzles have been solved. If he had just hidden the jewelry, once someone found it, they may never notify him, and others would continue to look for what is not there. Now where are the gold tokens hidden? All over the US? in NYC's Central Park? That's what I didn't pick up from the article.
