I believe people who get tattoos have something wrong in the head. They need to call attention to themselves in some way. No one every gets a tattoo and then tells no one about it, enjoying it only when alone. That said, tattoos have only one purpose: to get attention.Comment

Yes, but never in modern times have so many tattooed themselves. It's been, for a good couple of hundred years, something reserved for small portions of society: cast offs, mystics, tribal leaders, hookers, etc.Originally posted by JaceXXXhow do you explain the ancient civilizations that tattooed themselves? i guess they just needed attention

Now, every Debbie from Denver has a tat, done in 5 minutes at the local 5 Minute Tattoo Drive Through Mart. Hardly ritualistic or meaningful.
Additionally, they're ugly, and mostly unimaginative. I know they ain't about me, but about a girl's freedom to express herself. I'm just saying they're ugly. Feel free to uglify yourself.

Not only that, but I love the whole faux rebellion thing.
Yea, you're probably pissing off your parents and the "establishment" (whatever the fuck that is any more), but there's nothing rebellious about a tattoo. Independent mindedness is rebellious. A tattoo just screams "me too, me too".
Then you're fifty, sitting in a trailer park with sagging flesh and your "canvas" from your stupid days and thinking "Hmm, they really do last forever..."

Girls with tattoos won't date loser guys with shitty attitudes like you whiners here, I don't think the ladies are losing any sleep over your opinions!Don't you know who I think I am?

Just saying that what was once an interesting form of expression has become just a personal billboard for sheep doing what sheep do. Are there exceptions? Sure. Lots of neat cool people get interesting tattoos.
It's kind of like the difference between The drawings on the caves of Lascaux versus screaming billboards in Times Square in 2005. Might as well get the Costco logo tatted on your body for all most tats represent.Comment

I think a good chunk of tattoos are ugly on girls. Very rairly can a chick pull them off and make it not look as if they have blemished there skin forever.
I as a goth model go against the look. I have no tattoos and I dont even have my ears pierced. I think that there are people out there that would rather enjoy a womans body in a semi natural state (still with makeup on)Comment

Anyway, sister, do your thing. I kinda think you missed my overall point, which is tattoos, once a form of unique self-expression, have become just the latest form of me-too-ism in a culture of buy your cred/edge/uniqueness.
And they're ugly to boot.

I hope this conversation about tattoos is not regarding a specific gender (yes, even though that is what the subject is), as that is no longer (or at the least should no longer) an issue.Originally posted by shannHmm almost all of you are making references to women with tatoos only. No to go off topic, but WTF ... equality is such an old issue ... why is it still an issue? It surprises me that dusty old fuckers still think a woman?s place is in the kitchen ... FUCK THAT ... my lady friend wants to work ... go right a head darling ... I will have supper ready for her, followed by a hot foam bath and foot rub. By the tub, she will have a big fat hoooolie in the tray for her to smoke.Last edited by Paco, of Large Cash.; 01-21-2005, 01:19 PM.Comment

Take a deep breath. Step back. And read again.
Please don't tell me that I'm the only one observant enough to notice so many of these porn girls getting the same old tats in the same old places. For those of you who truly love your tats and the art of tats, I would think it should piss you off watching others turn your art form into just another trend.
My roommate has 4 tattoos. Each created by himself. Each with a very specific meaning. That's cool. That's ART. Jenny gets a cute little dolphin on her ankle for her 18th birthday... that isn't art.
But to each his own. I simply find tats ugly on girls. And the only reason I mention girls is because I'm not into guys. ;-) People taking this thread way too personally... you've never said "Oh my God, guys with split tongues look so retarded, such a turn off!"Vacares - Web Hosting, Domains, O365, Security & More - Paxum and BTC Accepted

Okay, as a girl with multiple "visible" tattoos, I speak from a biased, tattoo-loving perspective. However, we're you SERIOUS when you posted this?
"sorry, tattoos are a badge indicating lower breeding, lower education---they are indicative of nothing good, and everything that is bad.
get a tattoo that can be seen and forget about working in a fortune 500 company."
I feel like I was just picked up and tossed back into the 50's when women knew their place and men brought home the bacon.
Bad breeding? Don't think so. I come from an educated, white collar family...none of whom have tattoos but all of whom love me dearly just the way that I am. I'm the "creative" one in the family.
Lower education? haha College grad and culturally educated girl here...sorry to throw you off base. But you're right...I'm sure you couldn't find a single tattoo at an Ivy League school. (you might want to rethink this one)
And oh, by the way, I spent 3 years working VERY SUCCESSFULLY in a highly visible international sales position with a 100 year old fortune 500 printing company...visible tattoos and all. My customers (and mentors) loved me. Do you suppose I'm the only one to ever pull that off? Don't think so.
Everyone can have their opinion as to the aesthetic appeal of tattoos, but your comments were simply ridiculous.
Put me down as the girl that thinks they are an amazing, beautiful form of self expression. Guys, LOVE them on you, too...as long as you put thought into them and value their meaning on your body.Partner Manager, FNCash.com

There are cool tats and lame tats, pretty tats and ugly tats, its all a matter of preference. Wearing art on your body is cool anyway you look at it. However, the tazmanian devil is not art. Tattoos on girls are sexy if they wear them well... a girl with a big gut should not get a tattoo on her gut... just like a dude with a hairy back should not wear wifebeaters... but like I siad, its all in the eye of the beholder... my girl has 3 tats and she is fine!Comment

I get the point, but my point is the men and women who decide to get tattoo'd are not any less of a human because of their choices regarding tattoo's. Yes, the same old one's are boring, old, stale etc., however, that is their choice and they have to live with it, but someone saying that people with tattoo's are a lower class or lower breed of person is assinine! I know Doctor's/Lawyers/Judges et al., that have tattoo's and they are not sitting in any damn trailer park regretting their choices!Originally posted by SlyI think half of the people in this thread don't fully understand what DomBuyer is saying.

I personally don't have any tattoos. Too much of a commitment for me. However, I think that each to her own. If that is what a woman wants to do to express herself, so be it.
