Exactly. A lot of colleague bdsm/fetish sites update on a monthly basis as well. I've always tended to regard it much like a monthly mag subscription and never felt the need to go with a more frequent update. In 7 years we've never once had a complaint over update scheduling.
I've always said a themed or micro niched site will convert and retain better than a non themed or main stream site. So the more you theme/niche your site the better you retain. Simply because the surfer has little option but to stay. but you also narrow your appeal.

What I've never seen the financial benefit in is content that is exclusive in that this is the only place you can see this girl on that sofa in this action type exclusive. The sofa, girl, and action can be found on 1000 other sites and the surfer will see what he likes here and move on when he's seen it all.

What we do is shoot content that is slightly better quality and hit the surfer with a lot of it, so he stays longer or comes back sooner. Not every surfer is into crap.
