Actually that is the real pic but it has been color corrected to simulate the actual colors on Mars. I think that is what makes it look funky.
Not bad for a pic taken by a giant RC car on another planet.

Funny all of the photoshop comments about this pick, its the same one that's on JPL's website. They are studying it to determine the weather effects on the surface of mars.
