Too much money has been donated to Tsunami victims.

I am NOT saying money and help should not be donated.
    I think it's great.

Yet, I feel too much emphasis is beeing put on this disaster. People all over the world, especially in Africa are die each day from more preventable causes.

I think it's time we take a step back and look at what has to be done. This disaster was a once in a lifetime event. 250,000 people died... yet yearly, it is reported that 700,000 children around the world die of starvation alone. That is not even counting the millions dying of aids.

Ever been to the U.S.A? If not, go there, then you'll see why there's 700,000 children dying per year from starvation in other countries.

I'd agree though, you take some of the world's poorest countires and make them some of the richest.

ALmost 4 BILLION donated worldwide,l and though 4 billion isnt alot really, if you think of it, there were 59 countires "devastated", some of those countires the population is under 2,000 people.

Wonder how many millions they got, theyll be wearing gucci shirts.

Will we ever see any of our money back?

        Heh yea right.

I see hungry families all the time in the USA, from a mom dumpster diving to feed her kids at the McDonalds, to the kids hanging out at the 7-11 stealing food , not candy

Sad when you see a 8 year old lift a can of tuna because he's hungry.

I agree, being that i am from Africa, and have seen the conditions. Those kids need help, and more AIDS awareness programs need to be established.

It would be ashame if African needs an earthquake to hit it for all the damage that is being done by starvation and aids to be recognized.

                It's shock value.

When AIDS hit they had massive donations.

When "9-11" came geezus, we made some of the newest millionairs in the world.

They had BILLIONS of money donated to "affected families".

The goverment GAVE $1,000,000 to EVERY child that lost a parent, every child, even if they lost only 1 parent.

Call me mean, but I know lots of kids whose parents die every year.

The goverment doesnt give them shit.

Theyre called orphans, you can see them in state run homes.

Because we were attacked by terrorists, does that mean the goverment should PAY the survivors a million a clip?

Shit when the Federal building was bombed, the goverment gave no one a dime.

                Its called Shock factor.

Take an island in the indian ocean with 40,000 residents, a "nation" wipe out all but like 5,000 with a tsunami, and then hand them millions to "rebuild" with.

WTF are they gonna rebuild, they were living in shacks already.

Yes Im mean, Im just honest.

Why not send BILLIONS to Africa where some cities have 50,000 per square MILE living with NO HOMES and living out on the ground.

I didnt send ANY money to the "tsunami" relief effort.
I did however send some to Feed the Children.

Its funny, alot of big name companies werent even going to do donations untill the news said comments about them.

Yahoo was one of the most famous, they didnt fly a banner on their page untill 4 DAYS after it happened and only after they got blasted on CNN.

So they hopped on the bandwagon.

the world is a very odd place
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

                        From http://www.tsunamicharityauction.com/

Today we are calling on you to answer the need. Survivors of the Tsunami need our help, Without help they face a painful and prolonged death of starvation and disease?.

Survivors huddle in clearings without food or shelter above the water-damage line all along the tsunami-ravaged coast? and corpses float kilometers out to sea.

A mosque is the only structure left standing in the town

The soggy ground, about the size of five football fields, is stacked with rubbish, smashed vehicles and badly decomposed bodies.

The nightmarish landscape of sludge, flattened homes and tangled corpses is exposed. The stench is overpowering.

"We hope we can avoid cholera. The problem is we have already seen people vomiting in town."

Big fucking deal, thats DAILY life in Africa and has been for the last 20 years. Get a grip.

Let's say 4 million went to that country with 2,000 people. That's $2k for everyone. Suddenly they're rich! Hey, hang on, can I build a house for that? What about public infrastructure like roads, electricity, gas, telephone?

It's predicted in Africa that 3,000 men women and children die everyday from starvation and disease.

Do you think they bury them ?

Heh, talk to people who have lived in Africa.

I would be ASHAMED to go to Africa as well fed as I am, I would be embarrassed to stand in front of kids there KNOWING that they were GOING to die from starvation.

So I guess that means a house that costs USD$100k to build in the USA costs the equivalent of USD$333 there?
