If someone who calls themself a Muslim doesn't hate unbelievers then they are not a Muslim. It's as simple as that.
4.89 : They desire that you should disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike; therefore take not from among them friends until they fly (their homes) in Allah's way; but if they turn back, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper.

9.123: O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness; and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil).

He's got the right kind of attitude, but to refer to him as a Muslim is wrong.

Not to do down your 7/11 guy or anything. This next bit is not about him. Even though he's not, let's consider for a moment that this guy IS a Muslim. Would it be any more correct to judge Muslims by his one example as it would be to judge them by the example of the bad guys. If anyone takes a good example to define them all, it is equally logical and valid to take a bad example to define them all.
