Nuts, I had this nice long reply (longer than this one) explaining the pros and cons of private fighter jet ownership and GFY took a dump on me.

So the cliff notes are...

Yes you can buy just about anything your heart desires, but you can't buy it with guns or bomb racks as the BATF and the FBI have real shitfits over that, you also need to make sure that all your T's are crossed and I's dotted when bringing whatever into the country, otherwise you will have one helluva of static gate guardian for your hanger/house.

Yes, you can buy jets out of crates for about $15K but I wouldn't let a monkey be the pilot in command there, or even feel safe flying it as a remote air-to-air drone without dropping another $100K into it.

Keep in mind if you have your heart set on MiG's that you will be paying plenty in shipping, storing and flying these parts in from generally a third-world nation that more than likely has stopped flying this aircraft in the first place.

Know that you will have to get a private pilots license, a medical certificate, ideally an IFR cert, and you will need at least 1000 hours as pilot in command before the FAA would OK you to fly your own toy.

Figure on blowing about a couple million if you want to get a MiG-21 or MiG-29 and about $500K for a L-39.

Any other questions, drop me an ICQ, and I will try to help you as much as possible!
