In response to the overwhelming success of our recently introduced geo-targeted ads, we have extended IP-based geo-sensitivity directly to "/search/" links.

Simply insert &ip=auto at the end of your link and the visitor will see AFF member search results for their closest city. Many thanks to all the affiliates who have responded so enthusiastically to the geo-phenom.

great

after spending about $500 on a geo database and custom scripting so I could send surfers to geo matched listings, now you guys just add it

oh well... it did really boost sales and now I can take my database offline and save my server load

For instance, suppose i just want it to show 5 listings... you guys need a new parameter like &showlistings=5 or someshit like that.

Groan. Sorry about that. By now you've heard the argument that this geo-shit works so well when it works that it more than makes up for the occasions when it doesn't work (or misses, as in your case). Well, that's true for sure. But, bear in mind also that the performance of these ads is a function of the quality of the IP-matching database, which is a commodity element we can replace with a better one at any time a better one is available. Obviously, the higher the correct hit-rate of the IP DB, the better the ads. But, when it comes to converting from the ad to the site, and then retaining the member, there is simply no subsitute for 16 million active members worldwide. There is, literally, always an AFF member right next door. (Well, maybe not literally, but it sure feels that way to me in some towns -- LOL.)

Let's not confuse a thumbscrew for the engine.

Not sure if you didn't see my post, but the customized geo-searches have had the wrong url in them for over 24 hours. Is anyone working on it or should I pull them? Yesterday was a total wasted day with nothing counted.
