do you have any exit consoles ? or exit consoles leading to your site from something else..

If you use the window smedia player exit popup trick to bypass xp2 it will take focus of the previously opened window , making that the referrer

like i could make the cia or fbi show up in your refer stats by simply opeing the cia website the opening an exit onsole using the wmp trick and your site would be opened in that window making it the referrer

that is actually a really good explanation....and it would make sense too...because someone promoting my site could be using a exit console like you are referring to, leading them to my site from another opened window

Some people have their browser settings to reuse (recycle) open browser windows when they click on a new link.

Someone had that nasa page open in one of their windows and clicked on a link to your site from an email, instant message or possibly another web page.

I'm not 100% sure but this is what I have always attributed these weird referring urls too.

So these theories would actually mean there is content at the Nasa site at /access/area51/tours/schedule.php with the apropriate access-level which is kinda interesting.

looks like someone might be playing a prank on you, that page is a 404.

access/area51/ even if that was a real restricted area, I doubt they would make the name that obvious, it would be too inviting for hackers to attempt to break in.

this could be accomplished even simpler by sending a forged http request header to your site with the Referer modified to whatever.

its very simple and can even be done with telnet

firefox http request head mod.. used to see if you can get in to porn sites members areas by spoofing certain urls..
