There are laws for child abuse and any lawdog can use em and they do. I mentioned the 2257 laws to one person doing CP issues - her comment was "Awesome what they spend time on in Washington.."  She did not give a toss about 2257 and thought there were plently more useful laws already which carried more relevant sentences for CP and related issues. |
It's ironic or perhaps hypocritical that the same republicans that want to get rid of gun laws because "criminals don't obey the law anyways" are the ones pushing 2257. If someone rapes a child and films it there are shitloads of laws on the books to use to put them away for decades without adding a 2257 violation in there. If the threat of al those other charges aren't enough to stop them then 2257 isn't going to. Show me ONE case just ONE case where 2257 did anything that existing laws couldn't have done. 2257 was created because of Traci Lords guess what even if there was 2257 when she started in porn she still would have gotten way with what she did. She used BOGUS ID. Last time I check 2257 doesn't require the producer the verify if the information is actually true or not.
