I currently edit on Vegas 5 and Im starting to learn After effects. I was wondering before I put forth the effort to become a guru in both. Want to do more free lance editing local main stream stuff , some adult. Would going to final cut pro and motion be worth it. It would cost me about 9k when all is said and done. Do you think I can make a return on investment or does the platform really matter.

i know people that use premiere that swear by it
and i know people that use final cut and swear by it
they both can do things the other can't
they both are awesome programs, and from what I udnerstand vegas 5 is pretty nice too
fact is, if you are just editing local commercials and adult stuff, you don't need anything flashy
it is like owning 3 ferrari's and wanting to get a lambroghini cause it goes faster....well, not exactly, but you get the idea
if you have the right equipment and some professional software there is no need to constantly ask if the other is better....with products like final cut, premiere, vegas etc...they are only as good as the person working them -
