Lets Put 1 and 1 together for you idiots

HIV = Human immunodeficiency virus
AIDS = acquired immune deficiency syndrome

HIV breaks down your immune system...leading to a deficiency in your immune system.

AIDS = an immune system with a deficiency that drops below a certain level.

Now, ANYTHING which creates a great enough deficiency in your immune system could lead you to have "AIDS". HIV is just the leading cause of such a thing.

It isn't either or which kills you. When a virus or bacteria enters your system while you have AIDS it goes rampant as you have no immune system to fight it off.

You get HIV.
You lose your immune system (Now you have AIDS)
You catch the most common virus
Your body can't fight it
It turns into something worse causing more problems
You die.
