i'm trying to decide between that and a sony nw-e99 ... the sony is nicer and way better battery (and more $$ i know) but i cant find anything concrete on whether the sony actually supports mp3 or i have to do some shitty conversion. i dont care if its only a gig thats no problem, its only every couple years i fly out of continent so the 12 hours is more than enough for what i would use it for.
the apple is dope but crappy battery life and my b&o headphones look better with the sony ;)Comment

That sucks! Jake and I just bought two mini ipods to take to the gym. We got them because they were so small. I do like the display so maybe the new "shuffle" isn't that great. Oh my god you can just stick it in a USB slot! That is so cool.
Whatever!! Every time I buy something electronic it's old within hours of owning it!

240 songs wouldn't get me anywhere. I have over 200 CD's and it's a bitch to carry them back and forth to the car. So I got the Alpine iPod interface in my car and it's fucking great.

Also maybe I'm missing something but it seems to only play in random order? I suppose it's too small for a menu system so it by default has this random play "feature".
This kind of thinking is classic Apple.

If the 1GB had the $99 price tag it would make alot of diference..
Nice product tho...as for the Mac Mini...doesn't impress if you take in consideration what you get, the performance and the cost...more like a trendy gadget... (don't see anybody doing any actual work with only 512MB let alone 256MB...)Comment

here's the deal; the ipod shuffle is a flash based player... it's for those who dont want to, or dont need to, shell out the extra for a hard drive based one like the mini or the proper..
nothing wrong with flash based memory.. I notice for example sandisk now go up to 8gb with their products (http://www.sandisk.com/), so I guess it has potential in future... it has no display though, but that design feature according to apple would compromise the product and probably knock up the cost. they will of course no doubt sell loads of these to people who just want to get their feet wet.ICQ: 37378183Comment
