If you want to live someplace better... MOVE.Originally posted by AVMI agree! I had to pay fucking $300 dollars this week - In a walk in clinic, to get my thumb taken care of. private schools are generally a waste. everyone i know from private school is at my level or under....if your children cant succeed at difficult times or when at a disadvatnge(public school) that is their fault....those who can overcome those things are the strong ones in the end. though private school is more difficult, i se no reason im making simple things difficult. however im not talking about your kids specifically, no disrepect intended ofcourseOriginally posted by xclusiveI totally agree the Bush whitehouse is way out of control and does nothing for our country that is why my kids will be going to private school. Just pisses me off that those who can't do that have to suffer after all the children are our future and we should invest in that.Comment

There's two sides to an opinion like this. On one side, people do need help over here that are starving and dying.
On the other side, people have some serious issues in Indonesia that need help.
On the side I'm on I say there are extremely hot babes in Indonesia and they need help. I have no other reason, really, other than one of my potential chicks could be helped greatly by our money right now.I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

thats nothing compared to the billions he spent on freeing iraq....i live in canada but i would get pissed off if my president was trying to help other people when my economy could use a boostOriginally posted by Juicy D. No not fuck the tsunami people. That's harsh. But charity starts at home we have homeless people, people who need healthcare and die because they don't have it.Originally posted by Juicy D. Over in this corner of canada, a lot of the stores have put a 'keep the change' policy into effect... if you buy something at the corner store, you can tell them to keep the change and put it towards tsunami relief funds (oxfam, red cross and doctors without borders appearing to be the general faves). Seems to have piled up a lot of cash in a hurry.Originally posted by spunkyOur little country of Canada is donating over 800 million..I was watching the news and school kids in small comunities have raised like 75 k...really quite amazing ..They are human beings and have lost everything including families..That really is a small drop in the bucket for what they will need to rebuild their lives
That's the first time I saw the $800M amount though. At that rate, it'd put us at around $25/canuck, roughly. Since I donated a couple hundred to red cross and MSF, I'm wondering who the seven other lazy bastards are.

Yes, thats 149 billion.
I am Canadian, so I believe in helping people. Sure business at home needs to be taken care of, but let those hundreds of thousands of survivors to their own demise? Survival of the fittest can't apply in today's society. That's inhumane.Comment

For what it's worth, the US government has a history of rolling into town, promising the moon, and then disappearing without leaving a penny (or leaving pennies compared to the pledge). A pledge and actual funding are two entirely different things. Money pledged to help earthquake victims in the fabulously named Bam, Iran, for instance. Or the billions in aid pledged to help african nations, or rebuild afghanistan... I suspect that the 350mil 'pledge' in this instance will be another PR stunt designed to deflect some global criticism that the US is being a bad neighbor, so don't get too wound up over the money being spent... there's a good chance it won't be.Originally posted by Juicy D. Personally, I think the US should have been the VERY FIRST on the block to pony up some bucks for real, and for purely selfish reasons. Being engaged in a war and trying to win 'hearts and minds' away from those who'd turn to radical islamic faiths, the administration could have bought some very important PR in an area of the world where islam is making serious in-roads for mere pennies. Instead, it's been clumsily turned into a situation where it looks like the administration was 'cowed' into making a token offering. Another missed opportunity...
