A week isn't long enough to get over the trip, 2 weeks minimum, a month preferably, although I will prob be going for a week in March
I am biased but I would say go to Perth on the West coast, it's a lot like San Diego was in the 60's (or so I hear).. as regards unspoilt beaches, friendly people, good climate, lottsa fresh seafood etcSIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.Comment

What do you mean get over the trip? Jet lag? I'd be flying from Hawaii, so it wouldn't be that bad of a flight.Originally posted by plasmanA week isn't long enough to get over the trip, 2 weeks minimum, a month preferably, although I will prob be going for a week in March

Is it possible to in Sydney (isn't that on the East cost?) and fly over to the West side for two or three days?

That's like asking, where's the best place to spend a week or so in the USA around March?Originally posted by ShoehornWheres the best place to spend a week or so in Australia around March?
Australia is as large as the continental USA and just as geographically diverse.
The question you have to ask yourself is what do you want to do when you are here?Comment

I'd be a tourist, so I'd want to do tourist things. Go to beaches, go on a safari and see some kangaroos, hook up with hot Australian broads, party, etc.Originally posted by Joe CitizenThat's like asking, where's the best place to spend a week or so in the USA around March?

The only good thing about going for a week is that it will give you a quick taste of the place and have you planning your next trip back before you even leave there.
Just party it up in Sydney for a week then and try and squeeze in an outback safari and a day on the Great Barrier reef. Maybe even a package deal would make the best use of your time if you don't have friends there.
A lot of it depends on who you happen to meet there, tourists or locals. Go with a "try anything" attitude and don't talk too much about America being the greatest country in the world and you will be fine

LOL Surfers Paradise is part of the gold coast !Originally posted by ShoehornThats for the advice so far, I appreciate it. Someone suggested I make a stop in Surfers Paradise, any opinions on that?Comment

Avoid Sydney ... its like being in Lebanon and smells strange.
Brisbane/Gold Coast is a nice combination and a 1hr drive from eachother. You can spend a couple of days in Brisbane doing touristy things, then head down to the Gold coast for a few days. They also have a whole bunch of touristy things between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Wan't a slightly more unpopulated experience then fly up from Brisbane to Cairns or one of the islands off the Queensland east coast.IW

A week really is not very much time!
So I'd suggest hitting up Brisbane for two days and the gold coast for the rest. There are a number of tourist parks in between Brisbane and the Coast (Dreamworld, Movieworld, Seaworld and if it's still warm Wet'n'wild (water theme park) and at night there is plenty of nightlife in and around Surfers Paradise. Of course there are so many options but with only a week stay I'd say that is your best bet!Comment
