i want my visitors to be able to add comments under my daily updates. what would be the best script to do this? i also want to be able to delete the comments if necessary. also something that would prevent ppl from flooding it would be nice. would a blog script do this? or is there something better out there?

You may be able to find something free or perhaps open source to do this. I haven't seen it though.
The best way to do this would be to make your own. A PHP script with an administrative function that limit's posts by IP and allows an admin to delete a post.
Maybe find a half decent coder to give you a quote.

my server undestands php, cgi..the usual. i would prefer to still update the site with html pages but maybe add some kind of code at the bottom so ppl could add their own comments. my impression after looking at these blog scripts is that everything is entered on the site, like an actual blog. i'd like to make my html pages on my hard drive so i can keep them for backup, if possible.you don't know you're wearing a leash if you sit by the peg all day..Comment

i could write an easy to install and efficent script that would perform this. you could update your html however you wanted and near the end of the html (where you want the commends to appear) you will just paste the php code to include the script i will write, if you want. it will be easy for me to do and i can help you customize it if you want. one more question: do you want the form to upload a comment right there on the page that will also list the comments? sort of like this quick reply box?

i could also easily make it log ips and limit number of posts per day or maximum posts per 30 seconds...however you wanna do it....and make certain ips bannable...
