SYMPTOMS OF NIGHT SWEATS

* Damp and clammy bedding. You wake up to find your bedding soaked. You either feel too hot or clammily cold.

CAUSES OF NIGHT SWEATS

* Menopause or Andropause. Menopause in women is the most common cause of night sweats. However, some men also suffer from night sweats during the male menopause, or andropause.
* HIV, tuberculosis. In fact, any infectious disease or condition that brings on a fever can cause night sweats.
* Diabetes. Diabetes can also cause night sweats.
* Sleep apnea. This is the one that most concerns us. Night sweats can also be a sign of sleep apnea. If you also suffer from severe snoring and excessive daytime sleepiness, it might be time for a study.
* Alcohol, some drugs, spicy foods. Consumption of any of these can cause night sweats. And by drugs, I'm not necessarily referring to street drugs. Some prescription drugs, like Zoloft, can also cause night sweats.

POSSIBLE METHODS OF TREATMENT

* Determine the cause of your night sweats. As you can see by the list under causes, these are many and varied. Night sweats are not a sleep disorder but more accurately, a symptom of some underlying condition. Talk to your doctor.
* Change of lifestyle. Avoid alcohol and spicy foods. Talk to your doctor about medications you're taking to see if they could be the cause.
* Keep your bedroom cool. If weather permits, keep a window open, or try using a fan.
* Take a shower. A cold shower before bed might prevent an attack of night sweats.
* Ask your doctor about a sleep study. If you suffer from any other symptoms of sleep apnea, a study might be in order.

could be a her immune system has gotten weak. if she drinks or does drugs..

that happened to me for 1 week,, and i did the whole google thing and Freakkked out when i saw HIV,,, i went and got tested and i was fine and doctor saw what the problem wasfrom my blood test,,,, immune system was weak from drinking too much

I think my girl is too young to have menopause and she doesn't have the other menopausal symptoms. she did recently have a BAD case of bronchitis. that has me worried about tuberculosis now that I googled it.

There's another possible cause: lymphoma. My SO's father died from it. His first symptoms were night sweats.

Dude, she MUST see a doctor ASAP... stop asking for bs advices on GFY call to get an appointment tomorrow morning.

I get those occasionally...I do snore like a lumberjack when I have been drinking but I thought it was stress related was the main cause

nah i know she doesn't have HIV or anything. she goes for regular gyn. checkups and stuff. i got no worries about myself or my own safety. she has also been complaining of a achy back lately now that i think about it..

a gyn check up doesn't necessarily mean she is all good. I don't mean to be a dick but have yourself checked out for your own peace of mind....and have her see a doctor ASAP. A Google Diagnosis just leads to countless sleepless nights.

sudden nightsweats is also a sign of cancer.. possibly lymph node cancer known as hodgkins disease..

But dont freak yourself out , just go to a doc and ask.
