I know that Vegas can get expensive. What are some ways to save money?

Right now I'm bringing my own snacks for my room and my own bottled water so I don't have to use room service.

Any money saving tips will help.

Best money saving tip I can give... DON'T COME...

i do not want to go the the palyers ball but will you buy me a dinner i am not rolling that hard .. LOL ..

i dunno man if you go to Vegas have a good time .. i do not like to gamble, i do not order hookers, i drink alot, and i love a good buffet...

and most of the people here know i have been gong to this show for the last 5 years ... you can choose to go have a good time and not spend a ton of money... over the years i have gotten spoiled but i still watch what i am going to spend there...

STRIP CLUBS ARE EVIL so be ware of the spoils of a Vegas lap dance at the Rhino you will walk out of there 1000 dollars lighter.. LOL ..

you should not go just cause you have to do it on a budget but if you are going to be there and spend money do not go there just cause there are good parties go there to do business and you should be able to walk away from there making your money back if you play it smart...

Sykboy as always you make me laugh .. LOL .. see you there ..

But anyway, I digress....I can help you. In the mornings, go down to the nickle machines and play. You'll probably go through about 5 bucks an hour if you are lucky. While you are playing, you will have free alcoholic beverages. Last year, I was playing for a few minutes and some comp lady gave me like 10 free lunch passes (10 dollar value each). I didn't wind up using any but a cheapass like you would then have free lunch everyday while you are there.
            That is pretty funny, lol

In short, make sure the money you do spend is for business - do not spend money for fun ... yah boring, but that was not the question or the purpose for being in Vegas.

              - NO gambling! Some will say 'but it is Vegas? ... who cares ... you are there to work and make $
              - BYOB: if you HAVE to drink, go to the local liquor store and purchase whatever your into. Also, if you are going to be drinking at a club or whatever, order the house label, not top-shelf.
              - Take advantage of all the buffets offered - do not eat at expensive restaurants! Most of the older hotels offer all you can eat for $9.95 or whatever, or if you can stomach it, eat at Rotten Ronny or etc.
              - Stay at one of the older hotels or the Hostel.
              - Walk to your destination - do not take cabs everywhere.
              - No fronting! If you do not have the cash for it, do not splurge - no worries if all others are spending like mad dogs ... your turn will come soon.

One of the best ways to save some money in Vegas is to plan your trip ahead of time and get fair pricing for your hotel room, shows, car rental, etc. Vegas last-minute will always be expensive, even if you bring your own water Also consider going with a gorgeous chick who can get free stuff from the pit boss just by making eye contact.

Let me get this straight. I have a pass to InterNext, I've already paid $800 for my hotel room and another $300 for a plane ticket.

Now everyone's brilliant advice is to throw that all away and not go just because I want to be frugal and save a few bucks by taking advantage of Las Vegas' bargains that I know exist if you know where to look.

Most of the responses in this thread are bull shit.

"What's the point of going to Vegas if you have no money to spend?"

Um, maybe to learn and network? Some of you must have forgotten that this whole big Vegas trip everyone has planned just so happens to revolve around a business based convention that thousands of other like-minded individuals will attend. Gee, sure, forget all that. Because if you don't have money to waste, why go to a convention and learn/network?

I tell ya what, since attending conventions and shows I've learned MUCH faster and made the contacts to help make me more money. Last year I made more money than I've ever made before and one huge factor behind that is because I finally started meeting people and was able to expand my business. Networking is invaluable, and guess what... this convention is a GREAT way to network.

So you don't have money to blow every day on shows and expensive dinners, so what? That may not be the reason you're attending the show.

Hell I'm not even going to have time for all that fun stuff. I would really like to hit the poker tables and am taking plenty of money to have FUN, but I am going to have a pretty difficult time squeezing it in.

Sykkboy gave some great advice and tips. Everyone else... fuck 'em. Sometimes people forget their roots.

                      fuck them
come out, make some contacts and have a good time
maybe because I live in Vegas I'm desensitized to all that "but it's Vegas" hype, but if you have the money and want to party like a rock star, you can do that here...and if you want to come out on the cheap and still have a good time, you can do that as well....

Things been kind of nuts here after buying the place and then iBill giving me the fucking of a lifetime. Trying to concentrate on the mainstream site and the racing while juggling the mortgage ;)

Talk soon. I'm not going to be at the show.

There's a free newspaper in Vegas (who's name escapes me right now, but I'm sure they are all over the street there). Every year, they have a "Best of Las Vegas" issue which has a lot of great suggestions for cheap eats, etc. Every time I go to Vegas, I take alook at what they have and hit a few.

The funny thing is, it used to be "reader's picks", but I guess as too many folks from outside LV started rolling in and voting, they ended up getting "Red Lobster" for Best Sea Food, so they ended up having 2 entries for each category: Reader's Picks and Editors Picks.

Hint: see all those Asian dealers in LV? They have to eat somewhere, and it ain't at the tourist places. There's LOTS of good, cheap Thai and Vietnemese places in little strip malls off The Strip. Try Lotus of Siam.

I'm here in my room at the Luxor. On the table are bottles of water with a note "This bottle is provided as a service to you. If consumed, $4.00 will be billed to your room account".

I've had 4 since I've been here. I'm thinking that packing a few bottles of water into my suitcase might not have been a bad idea.

I just found Rick the Holy Grail of cheapness!!!!!

The Luxor has a McDonalds with a dollar menu. I just bought two pies for $1.

I just came back from Vegas and guess what????? You don't have to spend and arm and a leg.

Here are few tips for next year:

Use a shuttle service instead of a taxi from the airport. A taxi can get stuck in traffic and run up to $10-$20 plus tip for a hotel on the strip. Some shuttles are $4.25 for a ride to a strip hotel.

To get some munchies just take the tram from the Mandalay Bay to the Excalibur. Walk a couple blocks up the strip to the CVS or Walgreens. Buy Water, Juice, Breakfast bars, snacks, etc. I never ate breakfast out. I always just ate a couple of breakfast bars with some juice then headed out.

Eat at the the Luxor's McDonalds (Thanks Grinder. I would have never known it was there if not for your post). Their prices are not inflated. I could get a large drink with a meal and then a free re-fill which I would take back to my room all for about $3.

Knowing Vegas a little better I can really save some money next year.

BTW!!! I had a GREAT time at InterNext and made a couple of deals that easily paid for my trip, plus I made some great friends and contacts that will help me in my business. I would suggest that any webmaster do whatever it takes to go to the next one even if you have to save a few bucks by eating breakfast bars in your room. So for all of you that told me to stay home... GO FUCK YOURSELF

Hehehe...welllllllllllllllllllllll...Vegas is not the place to be if you are low on cash...but if you are really, REALLY desperate for cash...go out on the strip and walk until some dude approaches you to go on a timeshare tour for $100. They will take up a couple hours of your time while they give you the hard sell. Repeat this every day and you can make some spending cash. I sure as hell wouldn't go though...those things are painful...I went to one in Florida in the 1980s to get some free Disney tickets.

You can always look for package deals like

                                              http://www.vegas.com/resorts/packages_lite.html

Bringing your own water, ect to the room is a good idea. Buffet's are always a good place to get your money's worth.
