We use local talent rarely. Most of the time its not worth the bother - 99% are not cute enough for me. If you are not that particular, it definitely works if you live near a big city and place ads in the paper.
But if you are professional, its a big pain in the ass. For one thing I won't shoot anyone who is not tested, male or female, and most of the time the local talent that applies never gets around to getting a test. Apparently 95% of the people shooting porn on the east coast don't bother with tests, so they just move on to somebody less particular than me.
