To make it sound even more horrible, I would expect my wife to give up her life in exchange for my kid. So overall it really wouldn't be an issue.

I'm a woman, i'm sure my instinct would be to save my child. I think that would hold true for most woman. I hope if I ever have kids I'm never faced with that type of choice...

I would give my life to save my girlfriend or my daughter but if I had to choose then I wouldn't be able to. Whatever it takes and whoever has the best chance of living I would make sure to do what I could to ensure they do.

This thread show how stupid people think. I was there in Phuket with the Sunami. I can tell you that you save whatever you can because you dont have time to think.

Please show some respect for those that lost there loved once. I sat right beside those that lost one friend. Those tears and that face is something I will remember for a long time. But the feeling I got I something that I cant describe in words. U really felt it in your heart.. the pain.

Its good to know that they are

Wow.... with all the turmoil in the world....

This was an easy decision for me. I'd save my son (2 yrs) old in a heartbeat. I can't imagine my life without his bright smile waking me up in the morning.

Do you think that the age of the child makes a difference? I do! If he was a loud mouth druggie punk kid, I'd save his Mom in a minute.

However at his age, and what he brings to life I'd save him... his mom's sleeping but I know if faced with the same decision she'd toss me to the wolves, and I'd be fine with that decision after death knowing he was okay.

Kid of coarse. You owe it to your kid... you brought them into the world. They didn't ask to be brought into the world, so you are obligated to protect them as best you can and that means choosing them over your wife or yourself.

Yeah it would make a difference. If your kid is not a kid anymore but a troublesome adolescent/teen or young adult that gets themselves into problem when they should have known better one too many times, sometimes you have to let the dice fall where they may.

For instance, if they killed an innocent person, you should turn them in. Because your kid is a murderer.
