No. Self-interest is. The religious wars, inquisitions, etc were just a mask for the self-interest (territorial integrity, dogmatic hegemony, clinging to power, etc) that was the root of the evil men did to preserve their position. Then again, it's also the root of capitalism. Perhaps, it is IMBALANCED self-interest that is the root of all evil?
