Do I need an assigned IP for my site?

Excuse my ignorance in this matter, but when hosting a site, should I choose unique IP or shared IP?
    And why?

    Thanx

          Not true.

But he can always pay $1.00 for an IP if he wishes, even later on.

Myth, We have top listed websites and mostly all are on shared i.p.'s

And tyes we have more i.p. then we could get rid of, it's just a myth that it helps SEO.

I.p.'s do not get banned domain names do.

Staying on a certain i.p. for along time can help, having that i.p. be by itself does not.

I could go on but you get the point.

I love it when hosting companies say it is a myth. There is only one reson for that. Self preservation.

You can share an IP, but you had better make sure it has no relationship at all with the other sites.

For instance, apples and oranges should not share the ssame IP. Dogs and cats should not share the same IP. Apples and dogs can share it, but they can not have a common site that they interlink to.

Ideally, every site has its own IP, but that is not always possible, so just make sure that the sites do not share a common theme, and there is no interlinking between them.

for important domains, buying dedicated IP for $1-2 per month on a shared hosting is the way to go.
You dont want to share with someones IP and may regret it later on.
If you have a ded server, using 1 ip is enough unless you will be using some serious seo tricks.

adult-website-hosting.com is now and has been top listed for every major adult hosting term since 2002

                      And on a shared i.p.

I don't mind helping those who want to know the truth but being called wrong with this much experiance is funny to me.

My tip of the day, focus on good link trades and major directories. Playing i.p. tricks will send you in circles and waste your time.

Do you really think Google put in their engine to look for dedicated i.p.'s? Think about it.

As long as your domain is pointing to the correct nameserver(s) and they have your domain configured in their side, it doesnhahaha8217;t matter if shared IP or not. Your own IP is better though, but no must.

Baddog talks about self preservation ????

I ( and you and others) can offer as many IP`s as him. If anybody wants 50+ Ip`s on a box, as long as he pays 50.00/month, I will get them...

I find that the ' self preservation comment' applies to him to justify his high prices and sucker in innocent and uninformed clients....

After all, contrary to you, what does he bring to the table to back up his constant claims...

Nice marketing, nice urban legend , but no meat to it...

                          IP in NJ= 1.00 each

Class C ( another overated bs ) in Montreal/Toronto: 2.00 ( just to make more money btw)...

On the other hand, it is true that I don`t get pics of my nostrils taken with young hoes...

You say your site shares an IP with other sites. Are they other hosting related sites? Do you think that maybe it has something to do with the fact that the site has been up for 4+ years?

No one said Google is searching for dedicated IP's.

BTW, I am not finding it here

it's a well known fact that the best ip address for websites is 127.0.0.1

many different companies are fighting each other to get that ip. that address is internet gold.

But when all else is said and done a dedicated i.p. can't hurt, so for a buck why not.
