i think 6 months minimum is a good time to realize that you may have somthing with the other person... I usually know if it's not going to work by then or if he's serious about me.... especailly long distance.
You may want to move to the same town before you actually move in with this person... feel out the waters first... But if you have something special then it will work regardless of the obsticles...
