Sounds like a load of BS that they would offer less than the standard rate because it was one guy spending. In the real world companies give you a bonus for bringing them a whale, not rip you off. Whales are generally consistent business that will go on for an extended period of time.
Of course maybe I'm speaking out of my ass since I don't really know the cam biz all that well.
