Right now... there are people on the ground and they are the most relevant and may save a number of lives. Several international orgs plus Israel, France and now seems Germany were the first to have operational teams there treating/rescuing folks - that is what matters more than any money counties "pledge", - at least at the initial stages after this tragedy.

Sure somebody can donate a team of people to go in their and help. But that team is pretty restricted if they don't have the tools and supplies they need. Those tools and supplies need to be purchased somehow... with MONEY. The money is also very important for the rebuilding and other huge projects the victimized countries will undergo over the next several months and even years.

At this moment, orgs are not saying they is a shortage of money - this was already in the pot. The main concern is logistical, getting medicines, water units there and also feet on the ground. It looks like some of this is still 4 and 5 days away, - even to reach the areas cut off.
I suppose the most that can be done from outside is pledge whatever at this time and gather further support teams and it's good to see almost all nations contributing to this. Tho agree.. there is going to be one massive amount of funding required fairly quickly for major stuff and bet this far exceeds all funds pledged by all nations up to this point.XXX TLD's - Another mosquito to swat.Comment
