So I am watching the news right now. First story is about how 11 guys in Laguna Beach are arrested for "Attemptling Lewd Acts" with a 14 year old. Basically one of those internet sting ops, where they get the guys to show up and arrest them...

News says they can face up to 4 years..

Next story is a Priest had just been CONVICTED of MOLESTING a boy, confessed to molesting 12 others, but due to the statute of limitations couldn't be brought up on charges... and can face up to 3 years...

I am confused at why the first offense has a longer sentence then the second?

Anyone?
