EDIT: Oh yah, in Canada an East Coast Liberal is not the same creature as a West Coast.

Do you think in any corporation that officers entrusted with the funds of shareholders would be permitted to conduct themselves in the same matter as politicians with tax payers money?? Don't think so! They would be stuffed in court then thrown in jail.

Tho not perfect, I kinda like the control by the people of politicians where I am now. Basically, if they screw up or do not comply with the wishes of the people - the govt can be removed in under a month, tho can be within the week.

Elections? Never a problem with them. The school children manage elections, supervised by teachers. No police officer or armed person is allowed within X distance of any polling station. There has never been a need for a recount, because the children are actually educated and can count! The kids even have their own "vote" - often a meaningful one, cos children can see much that adults miss....

It's not perfect.. what is? But has been acknowledged in many countries to be the best example of real democracy in action - even by the US, - tho that's not exactly a testimonial considering the background there.
