GFY 3.0 Fixes, Updates, and Suggestions

Would be nice to see WHO made the last post though.

It would be useful to have a page listing ALL advertisers. Sometimes one notices an interesting banner ad just as one has clicked to view another page....and hitting "Back" won't necessarily serve up the same ad again, grrrr.

Good ideas. I personally think avatars are trashy looking though. There is only one board that I think has ever done them well, and that's amateur masters.

The PM feature works fine on Xbiz- and it can also be 'hacked' to prevent this so called imaginary 'abuse'. (And this isn't the biggest board out there, either. Stile Project has some 500,000 members. DeviantART has over a million.)

It would save unnecessary SQL queries and make the board run faster.




Like I said, if they used the industry stardard 92%, like they should be doing, instead of a fixed width, we wouldn't have this problem.

The first is kinda stupid, don't you think? I mean, shoudn't it be only superusers can UPLOAD attachments and everyone can see them?

That only applies to the attachments uploaded BEFORE Lensman set the 'super users' permissions.



The extra packets sent out would crash the board in 5 minutes. (well maybe a little longer) When you load a forum index, it loads and cache's all the previews from each topic on that page. Multiply that by +1000 users online, whilst new topics started every 30 seconds and you've got yourself a complete meltdown. But it would be fun to count the query strings.



Easy fix to the Lang file.



If he does it, they should be hosted remotley.
