Guys, I?m anti bush and generally anti Iraq war but fucking with the troops is too much. Yellow ribbons are a traditional sign of solidarity with our soldiers from way back. It use to mean that you had a son, husband or father fighting in the conflict (WW II). You would have the ribbon tied around your tree until they returned.
Make all the political statements you want against our government but don?t disrespect our troops. By pulling those magnets off someone?s car you?re basically saying that you hope our soldiers don?t come home alive.
Yes we do have a volunteer army now and those guys did sign up, but do you think they wanted to go fight a war? I don?t think many of them were thinking much past ?I?ll get some money to go to college.? The fact that they didn?t run to Canada or something when they found out where they were going is enough to give them some respect. All the while we sleep in our comfortable beds here far away from any danger.
It?s a free country, do what you want, burn flags, pull yellow ribbons down, but don?t do it around me or expect a reaction.
