I post out user/passes to password sites every other day. My own sites get listed and my members area gets a ton of traffic coming in. I leave it an hour before deleting the passwords. Then enjoy some extra sitgnups as folks like what they see and want more!

Well that may be you, but this guy brute forces them and in the process consumes your servers resources. He hits from hundreds of servers.
Now he is gone again. :-)

Fair comment I am not talking about that type of site. More the striaght forward password forums like 3XHQ.

I know some people who do what you do as well and they are generally very successful at it. :-) Can be good traffic if worked properly.

Ya gotta give that guy points for great customer service! LOL

Somebody needs to tell him there's money to be made on the other side. If he converts to sending real traffic his member list is golden since he could blast emails for a month or two with paysites "passwords" that go to limited trial members areas.

It seems that a webmaster could do himself well by making a small members area that offers a small amount of freebie content and then going to the pass sites and submitting user/pass pairs to this limited members area. Could be a legitimate (and very low cost) traffic generation technique if you arent paying your host on a per GB basis. You guys with X/MB unmetered could use that to your advantage.

It's almost hopeless. There are channels all over IRC doing the same thing.

While you're on your power trip, why not shut down some of the bigger password sites? Theres a ton out there, the really big ones have been operating for years.

These guys hack into servers... the poor guy who owns idate.co.uk was
in total shock when I told him someone was running a site on his domain
in a hidden directory. Anyhow, to help the poor bloke out I logged in
and got his php all secure so they cant do it again, lol.

PassNet gone again. Where will they show up next?

We have built in software for every site for this, I wish we could stop them at the core but realistically the only solution is to beat them at the website and show people how to block these guys themselves.

We have a list of ways to secure your website on our website help sections, I can't post it here though I think.

Good to see some action but really there is not much you can do, they can keep moving forever.

Yeah, we use ProxyPass mostly along with some nice firewall rules and brute detectors... If it was just password trading I would not be so interested in hunting down these idiots. These guys are hacking many sites and causing alot of disruption and Im having fun with them. I like the hunt. ;-)

The problem with the bigger hackers is that they can easily overload
even the best of brute protection programs... they have access to hundreds of hacked/exploited boxes under their control. Im knocking them down so they get bored of not making any money. ;-)
