I think some Americans do tend to go overboard with the whole "We rule the world" shit and the "we're better than you" shit..... so that might explain why some others feel an extra bit of warmth in their insides when the US gets their ass handed to them.

Not only that but some (keyword: "some") Americans themselves get all bitter and scornful when another country (but especially Canada for some reason) is more often than not their superior in a sport, but especially so in a high-profile sport such as hockey.


But again, I can only speak for myself. I'm happy when the game is played well no matter who is doing the playing. Whether it's the Russians who win gold or the USA or whomever, they will have earned it, you can bet on that.
I hear ya. But I think things are changing in the US. Take the men's basketball team for example. Alot of people were actually hoping they would lose when they did.
