At first I thought it was a low quality cell phone pic but looking at the FHGs I think it's actually a softening filter? Might look fine on 320x240 webcam pics but I don't think it's going to work so well for TGP FHGs.

(I still remember back when 'nay was 14.

You could try sharpening the pics in photoshop... this is the result of a pretty aggressive setting which makes the pic look half decent

I doubt that's a result of an unsharp camera. It would appear to be a gaussian blur photoshop effect. Many of women like it because it hides detail.

Edit: If she is shooting with that Panasonic camera, that is definitely not how the photos would look right out of the camera.
