Holocaust deniers do not deny the Holocaust on any academic grounds. They do it because they hate Jews and would like to see the whole process repeated.

Of course it falls under 'racial vilification' in most nations, and not simply Holocaust denial, but it all has the same result (and there are documented examples in other Western nations). Fact is Irving is being tried for some speech he gave 15 years ago or something, and is facing numerous years in prison. No different to what the Chinese do about restricting free speech and internet access to issues about 'politically sensistive topics' really.
