Is "incentivizing" even a word? Come on, now.

It is not an exactly novel model. It's been tried before by iwon.com Probably will share the same issues iwon.com faced. IMHO, the BEST "incentive" are actually relevant search results. (A bit off-topic Although it may seem clunky, the About.Com comprehensive result model holds the most promise re packaging search services. It COULD use additional tech and process flow upgrades though.

Well we all knew MSN was gonna put money behind it as soon as they were ready and with the Yahoo contract of theirs expiring this month, be prepared to see the marketing dollars flow big time.

Lets hope the relevancy follows suit.

So, if you had a new search engine, and you wanted people to try it, you would not offer incentives for people?

                    I would

I like the idea.. this is what free market should be. We all know that there are natural and paid search results that both companies partake in to certain extent. Its a business as much as Google and everyone wants us to believe its only a service. I am not touting Google or Microsoft stock so no vested interest either way but I would love to see the games begin and its about damn time.

90% of the engines do this nowdays anyway. Even if the engine itself doesn't chances are a large majority of affiliates using the engines feeds are up to no good.

Just like any other contest, I bet this one is only good for Americans! Won't catch me using MSN search -- I'd probably win a prize only to be told that I don't qualify as a winner because I don't live in the states.

Perhaps some people need to open their own search engine...

I swear I almost choked while laughing at the idea that Google was merely a service.

There is nothing wrong IMHO with this...

I mean when affiliate programs comeup with promotions/bonus you don't complain, is it really that different what MSN is doing just because its owned by Microsoft?
