The direction we are heading in will make Band.com a destination portal but with music as the driving niche. In other words we want to become peoples start page just like a yahoo.com, Msn.com etc. Our goal is to provide all the services these portals have but they will be aimed at a person who lives and breathes music.
Content is king here and will be the make or break factor in our survival. as you said most of the ideas have and are being done somewhere else. The one thing I don't see is a one stop shop where all the ideas are seamlessly put together.
We are putting together all the pieces in the form of a skeleton and I will post screen shots for suggestions on the design direction we are headed in. Iknow how much everyone likes to add their

Hi Shuki, I am deep in the music biz as well (over 15 years with hits to match). You might want to kick your idea around on www.velvetrope.com . That's really the only real industry forum on the web. Plenty of band members and music execs on there that will give you a better sounding board about your ideas than anywhere else.I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

I usually think about traffic first, than build a site around whatever I can get for free ;) Of course, if a really awesome idea struck me I'd give it a go, but I don't feel like wasting time on something that will earn me a dollar a day (been there done that). Traffic generation or profitability (if you're buying the traffic) is always the key as far as I see it. Everything else falls into place from there.Comment
