    >> OFFICIAL << Spam Opt-Out Test >> OFFICIAL <<

For the next month, I will opt out of every spam I get that has an opt out link. Every day I will post in this tread what the grand total of spam messages I received, how many had an opt out, and how many didn't. I'll also post how many made it thru my filter in outlook, and how many didn't.

I will also not post my email address anywhere for the next 30 days.

After 30 days, let's see if I receive less spam, as Opting out should cause.

i think we should see at least a 25% decrease

some mailers DO care and some sponsors terms mailers for that

Oddly enough, since posting this thread, the spam to my email box has dropped

I've only gotten 8 spam messages so far in the last 3 hours, and have opted out of 3 - the other 5 had no opt out links. Real daily stats will be posted....keep watchin this thread peepz

We had a discussion about it - now I want to see if they're right.

99% eh? If someone doesn't want a product from me, I sure as hell won't waste my time trying to target that individual. Only the newbies don't use remove list's, you waste time, resources, bandwidth, and the list goes on.

My is, if you want to make money mailing, spamming or whatever you do...USE a fucking remove list and stop wasting yours and other peoples god damn time.

I remember reading somewhere that 'opt out' links were just tricks, and in fact if you opt out, you'll receive MORE spam because they know your account is active.

In alot of cases, "Opting Out" will only verify the validity of that email account, and you will get put on more lists. You may be removed from THAT list, but you may, in turn get put on other lists once you verify that you are a real-box by "Opting Out".

I wonder if the spammers want you to believe that opting out won't work so that you don't even try to opt out.

I predict -based solely on my experiences with opting out- that his spam will be reduced by more than 50%.

could be... but I remember it being a reliable source. like yahoo.com or something. With testimonials saying how people would opt out, and then receive a shit load more of spam.

The problem with your test is, if you opt out of someone's list and they actually remove you, chances are the one that stops spamming you will just be replaced by another one. You get off one list and on another or that list is circulated from one mailer to another. So that's not an accurate way to track if your overall spam is being reduced by opting out.

Anyway, there's no way of knowing if that mailer removed you from their list. Just because you stop getting the same offer from what appears to be the same mailer everyday, doesn't mean they won't mail you with a different offer from a different domain/proxy etc. with different message bodies.

                                  Spammers don't die, they multiply.
