Must admit though it still is better owing them instead of getting some working job tax refund.

I've been fighting off the IRS for a year now - started last year on Valentine's Day. I just got notice I won on Saturday. I'm happy.

Well sounds like you are making a shitload of moeny. I sure hope you are incorporated and taking all the deductions you can get with that kind of payment.

i share the same sentiment. taxes are heavily imposed upon the average class, to which we belong... and much of these taxes are allocated to military spending (to fuel the drive for greater wealth and power particularly in the middle east area) rather than delivery of basic social services.

                                deductions

I was thinking tonight that maybe the beer that I ordered should be a deduction - after all it was much needed stress relief, -- isn't that some kind of deduction?

If you are self employeed, then just be glad you don't live here:

($100 is about 640 danish kroner)

                                        Company surplus tax: 30%
Personal income tax - up to 288,000 danish kroner: 38.8% (under 38k is free)
Personal income tax - 288k to 346k danish kroner: 46.8%
Personal income tax - over 346k danish kroner: 53.8%

In addition there is 1% "church" tax, 8% extra salary tax for beeing hired or hire someone, and 25% VAT on most products and services.

I'm in the 33% tax bracket and I'm married (wife stays at home). I didn't bother incorporating because I don't wanna have to deal with having a seperate account, then paying myself a wage from that, I just wanna spend my money on what I want to and throw it into this or that investment.

I do get to take all of my deductions which is good, but I do get screwed on paying the Social Security tax which is 15.3% of the first $94,200 of my earnings. My accountant mentioned that I should change over to something else, I can't recall what exactly it was, to get away from all those Social Security taxes, but I was actually a little worried about that because I think that it's good to have those extra dollars going into my Social Security to make it easier when I retire (that's IF there's gonna be SS when I retire, ha ha). I do have other retirement things going on like IRAs and savings, so I'm trying to think smart.
