In that first gallery you probably need to select/crop thumbs slightly differently,
thumb 1.jpg and 2.jpg next to each other look funny, 8 and 9 doesn't apear to work that well next to each other either...but other than that, looks good

Look what i would do in your case. Check gallery samples and pick someone experienced that emphases on layouts with wording. Order 10 templates and buy 1mil unique for $500-600 from a tgp like 3pic.com (100k to each one). Track the performance and CTR of each template. When the traffic has finished keep the top3 templates for the whole 2005. By using the same templates you secure good ctr/perfomance and they become more recognizable to the tgp reviewers.Comment
