OK, LCD TV took a shit today, can it be fixed?

So i go to turn on the TV and it looks really dark. A TV show was on that I never saw before so I didn't think too much of the fact that it looked really dark. Hit "guide" on the cable box remote and it looks as if the left bank of backlights isn't coming on. What the fuck! It only about a year and a half old, but should i just go out and spend another $1500 or is this thing ready to take a total shit soon?

Fuck, $1500 is quite big; look for cheaper repair shops.
