Pay scales are given freely to every person that is interested in joining, and nobody held a gun to thier head and made them sign up. I dont think its up to you to decide that they should be "living thier lives" instead of fighting a "useless war".

I'm pretty sure that they wouldnt agree with your opinion on what they should be doing. If you havent been a soldier, you just wouldnt understand.

Not paid well? Factor in that they don't have pay for housing, buy food, transportation, or health care. Then think about the GI Bill paying for their college, Veteran's benefits including no interest home loans, etc.......

they chose to go in and knew how much they would be making. I salute them for choosing to serve our country. While I don't agree with the war in Iraq, I do support our troops. They don't get to decide what wars we fight, they just go when we tell them to. I think by slamming them about how much they make and telling them they should be living thier lives instead of fighting a useless war you are belittling thier commitment to this country.

That said, I think that our soldiers should get paid more and should not be stabbed in the back by our leaders. In the end all a war is is our poor people fighthing thier poor people and that's sad no matter what the cause.

It's a disgrace how poorly our soldiers are paid and how shabbily they are treated when they are seriously wounded or maimed. Some of these soldiers getting their arms or legs blown off get relative pittances from the government for their injuries. I think this war is idiotic, but you still have to feel bad for the soldiers themselves. I'm glad they are patriotic enough to go do that job. If they are female, nineteen and pretty they'd be better off working for me though!
