Because nearly every other dressing has suffered a great deal to it.
I am beyond sick of going to a restaurant and discovering they only have ranch, vinaigrette and maybe thousand island. Hell if you forget to ask it comes as default nowadays.
It has literally gone to far when you order fries and they ask you if you want ranch with those. Or you order pizza and bread sticks via delivery. You specify you want marinara for your bread sticks yet they always bring you friggin ranch and you have to send the driver back to get the damn red sauce (because ranch is typical default).
Or your sitting at a table and you can hear people ordering, and every so often you hear someone screech out "rannnnnchhh!" like it is some white trash mating call.
