Did George W. Bush really say this?

From the State of the Union address:
Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to prohibit the most egregious abuses of medical research - human cloning in all its forms ? creating or implanting embryos for experiments ? creating human-animal hybrids ? and buying, selling, or patenting human embryos. Human life is a gift from our Creator - and that gift should never be discarded, devalued, or put up for sale.
    Is he psychotic?

        I second that motion!

That is NOT language that the president of the united states should be using. The words "creator" or "faith based" has no place in politics.

He sounded more like a fucking preacher than a fucking president the other night.

          Yeh he said that.

I was wondering what he meant by human-animal hybrids also. That sounds like the type of research the Nazi's were doing during WWII.

He didn't, the first time. The second time the Democrats failed to put up a competent opponent. Dean, Edwards and Kerry? Give me a break. If Hillary would have surprised everyone and ran, she would be President right now. I don't know about her chances in 08, but she could have won 04 against W.

As for this hybrid comment.... He is against growing human parts (kidneys, livers, etc...) inside animals for use in humans who need them. That is the type of development in a society that you just DON'T try and hold back.

The first US President "George Washington" cited God in almost every speech he gave and it's freedom of religion and not freedom from religion.

It's both freedom of religion and freedom from religion, in the sense that the state shall not impose a religion on the people. As the third President, Thomas Jefferson, said:
Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and State.

-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Danbury Baptist Association, CT., Jan. 1, 1802
So I see no issue with a president invoking God, if that's what inspires him, but where does he get off urging Congress to pass laws prohibiting activities based solely on, as Bush claims:
Human life is a gift from our Creator
Sounds like the mixing of church and state to me. How can a person be free from having a religion imposed on them by the state, if the state imposes the DOCTRINE of a particular religion (in this case conservative Christianity) on all the people?

If George W. Bush doesn't want the benefit of say a transplanted piece of pig aorta, then no one is twisting his arm. But let the rest of us choose for ourselves.

Could make for an interesting next 500 years.

For example, faulty human heart valves are routinely replaced with ones taken from cows and pigs. The surgeryhahaha8212;which makes the recipient a human-animal chimerahahaha8212;is widely accepted. And for years scientists have added human genes to bacteria and farm animals.

If a piece of a pig aorta, or a transfusion containing some monkey cells will save my life or improve the quality of my life, then I am game. I'm not superstitious.

Someone finally got winning the presidency down to an exact science. You just through two shaking hands up into the air and proclaim..., "I LOVE JESUS" with a redneck accent, and you're in there.
