I dont recall the answer, but they actually gave away the state in which the Simpsons are located in.
In one Episode, the creator of Danger Dog was at the school answering questions, and everyone's hand was up, the first person asked which state Danger Dog was from and when the creator answered the question like everyone's hand went down.
The state Danger Dog is from is the actual state of the Simpsons.

no check the episode where lisa adopt a poor brasilian boy "Renaldo". They specify that with all the clues they gave away we should be able to figure out the state they live in.Originally posted by AVM
They never stated or alluded to what state they live.
Additionally if you watch the episodes - So many things conflict with one another (geographically), that technically, they don't live in any one particular state.
I have nothing to advertise ... yet.Comment

There is a website dedicated to this and if you are looking for a perfect fint you cant find it.... way too many contradictions as stated before. But I saw a show with creator Matt G*(whatever) saying it was Mass, hence the mayor's voice.Originally posted by qw12er

There was a Simpson episode where they were giving their story and they said they were from Kentucky. The clues always leads to Missouri though....My Ex-husband SKULL-BUITRE ran off to Colombia with OUR money and screwed me after I helped him build OUR business.
He is hiding in Colombia and never paid the settlement $ from our divorce!

Where Is The Simpsons' Springfield?
Version 3.0
Originally by Raymond Chen & Dave Hall

Where is The Simpsons' Springfield?
Ronaldo: I tried to write, but I didn't know what
state you lived in.
Lisa: It's a bit of a mystery, yes, but if you look
at the clues, you can figure it out.
~ "Blame It On Lisa"
[ THE SHORT ANSWER ]
Springfield does not exist. Its location is a running gag,
no more.
There is enough evidence in the existing 335+ episodes of
The Simpsons to preclude Springfield's placement in ANY
American state. There are so many geographical
contradictions between episodes that it is impossible for
Springfield to actually exist.
This has now become a running gag among both the writers of
the show and its fans. In the show, references to
Springfield's precise location are always artfully
hidden, usually for comic effect:
This scene, from a preliminary script to "Brother, Can
You Spare Two Dimes" demonstrates the proper attitude to
have towards the issue.
Scene: A train station. Herbert Powell is at the
ticket booth.
Herb: I want a ticket to Springfield.
Ticket Agent: Springfield, Illinois?
Herb: No.
Ticket Agent: Springfield, Massachusetts?
Herb: No, Springfield...
As Herb says the name of the state, a train whistle
blows, preventing us from hearing the answer.
Springfield is "Anytown, USA". It's as if all of America was
compressed into a single town, or a single state.
Springfield is everywhere and nowhere.
That's not gonna stop us looking./(bb|[^b]{2})/Comment

Direct evidence:
Only direct evidence is permitted here. Calling upon weather
conditions, accents, local geography etc. doesn't count.
Many of these references appear here on the principle that
you don't give the state after the city if it's the state
you're currently in.
There are many towns with the same name as American states;
for example, there is a Delaware in Arkansas, an Arkansas in
Kentucky and a Kentucky in Illinois. Many more references
(marked with an *asterisk) assume that it is a state which
is being referred to, not some town in another state.

Wisconsin -- Nelson remarks that a field looks "Awful! It
looks like Wisconsin!" [EABF16] {Martin
Østergaard}
Episode 8F01, "Mr. Lisa Goes To Washington", contains what
was noted by Andreas Hagen to be the first piece of direct
evidence point TOWARDS Springfield's placement in a state
rather than AGAINST (as with all the evidence above).
In this episode, Springfield's congressman, Bob Arnold, is
approached by two different shady corporate types and
offered bribes - firstly to cut down Springfield's National
Forest, and secondly, later in the episode, to drill for
oil on Mount Rushmore (specifically, Teddy Roosevelt's
head). Mount Rushmore, SOUTH DAKOTA. This places Springfield
firmly in South Dakota. Or does it? SNPP's episode capsule
for this episode contains more discussion on the subject.../(bb|[^b]{2})/Comment

Most of you are too young to remember but in "Father knows best" The Anderson family lived in Springfield too, but the State to my knowledge was never mentioned. I think they used the name Springfield like you'd use anytown, USA because there are so many Springfields in the USComment
