You can leave me a message, regarding what you want to talk to me about. When I get back to the computer I can answer it and if you're there we can carry on, if not no problem you have my reply and you reply and we carry on from there.
How hard is that?
OK I got that off my chest I will go back to being my usual happy self.

Perhaps they're not "glued" to whatever mode of communication you chose to contact them by? ;)
